Add a worker
On the Field workers page, add a worker with their name and (optionally) phone number. They’ll appear on your roster, where you can see each worker’s last known location, battery, and how recently they reported in.See where a worker is
Each row on the roster has two collapsed panels, Coordinates and Address. Open Coordinates for the raw latitude and longitude of the worker’s last ping. Open Address next to it and Tellem looks up the street address for that point, so you can read a worker’s position without mentally decoding the numbers. A few things worth knowing about the address:- It is only looked up while the panel is open. Leaving the Field workers page open with the panels closed never runs a lookup.
- Once open, it refreshes at most once every five minutes, and only if the worker has actually moved since the last look-up. A worker parked at a job keeps the address you already have.
- The Last updated line under the address is the time of the most recent look-up, in your account’s timezone. The coordinates above it stay live.
Set up location sharing
Tap Pair app next to a worker to generate a one-time pairing code. The worker installs the Tellem app, taps Pair device, and enters the code once. On first use they sign a short location-sharing consent form, and from then on the app shows them their schedule and shares location while they work, and lets them tap I’ve arrived and Done.Until a worker has paired the app and is sharing location, Tellem falls back to time-based estimates instead of live GPS.
Privacy
Workers consent to location sharing during setup, and sharing only happens while they’re working. On the customer-facing tracking page, a worker’s live location appears only while they’re on the way or on site — never before or after. See Customer tracking.Limit collection to set hours
By default Tellem collects a worker’s location whenever they’re en route to a job. To narrow that, open the Account page → GPS tracking & privacy and set a Tracking window:- Leave both times blank to allow tracking any time of day.
- Set a start (and optionally an end) to collect location only within that window, in your account’s timezone — a start with no end runs until midnight.
- Optionally limit it to specific weekdays; leave them all on for every day.
